PRESSTEK AND SHIRA PROVIDE WORKFLOW
SOLUTION TO PRINTERS WITH CEPS BASED SYSTEMS

Hudson, NH & Newton, MA—October 6, 2002 —Presstek, Inc. a leading provider of direct digital imaging technology and Shira Computers, LTD, creator of automated preprint production and workflow management solutions for the worldwide prepress, printing and publishing markets, today announced a co-marketing agreement. Under this agreement Presstek will market and sell the Shira developed product DI-connect®.

DI-connect® is designed to convert raster files generated on CEPS-based systems to PostScript format without compromising the reliability of the raster data. The converted PostScript file maintains complete fidelity with the original raster data. The resulting PostScript file is also significantly smaller due to Shira’s use of lossless compression.

Mike Chadwick, Presstek’s DI Product Manager, states, “DI-connect provides an elegant solution for Scitex and other legacy prepress systems by integrating a seamless workflow into a DI solution. We are pleased to now be able to provide customers with such a complete and viable offering. DI-connect is designed not only to process their legacy files but integrate them into a total open PostScript solution.”

Scott Champeau, Shira’s Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, said, “We are capitalizing on the resources and expertise of both companies. Together these technologies create an automated printing solution for the CEPs and PostScript workflows that is easy and efficient.” Champeau adds, “Shira’s products are engineered to support automatic or interactive vendor independent workflows. By combining this ease of use with the efficiency of a DI press we believe we have produced a solid printing solution that leverages existing CEPs workflows and investment.”
